Thomas Friedman in the NYT:


What struck me most was what I’d call an ‘Obama doctrine’ embedded in the president’s remarks.

Hold the phone: that’s a discovery of major historical and political significance. How did Friedman piece together this tacit doctrine? Did he disorient the president with interrogatory techniques honed over decades at the pinnacle of his craft? Painstakingly develop intimate rapport, enabling him to decode the president’s body language? Run the president’s comments backwards? 

President Obama invited me to the Oval Office… It emerged when I asked

 president said… [‘]You asked about an Obama doctrine. The doctrine is…’

Truly, the greatest feat of exegesis since the American press corps revealed that Benjamin Netanyahu opposes two-states.
